What does RSS? or "Subscribe to my feed" mean.  Look in the right column of this blog and you will see this icon.
RSS Feed  Let's find out what "subscription" or "RSS" is all about?

[More:]

In my prior post we looked at what blogs and podcasts are - the basic elements.  We also looked at how they can help your website be promoted in natural search engine placement.

But if you have been reading blogs for any time or if you peruse news sites like CNN or MSNBC, you've seen orange icons like this one located in the right hand column here at ASBABlogs.

RSS Feed

Or perhaps the words, "subscribe to my feed", "XML", and other similar phrases.

These represent a technology called Really Simple Syndication - that allows you to received updates from this and other sites WITHOUT PROVIDING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS!

This brief tutorial, An Introduction to Blog Subscription and Syndication, explains what RSS is and why it is important.

I use a free RSS Reader or Aggregator called FeedReader - click for free download.

On Wednesday, I'll post a short video demonstrating how to subscribe to a feed.  However, if you want to get a headstart, download feedreader and subscribe to your first blog by copying this link - RSS Feed - into Feedreader.

If you have any questions, let me know.
